3 adolescence attacked by coyote at Arlington park

The City of Arlington now says three children were attacked by a coyote at a park those attacks happened Saturday Monday and Tuesday and today at least one coyote was spotted at Parkway Central Park although several have been spotted in the area over the last few days traps have been set throughout the park it remains closed Fox for is pton.

Jger live in Arlington with the latest pton Heather and Arlington Police and Arlington Animal Services they are still out here at this evening at 9:00 p.m. but City officials tell me they really are not sure how many coyotes they are looking for at this point but day has turned into night that search is still going on so right now they're using.

Flashlights but we did have some activity the most recent activity was around 7 p.m. a coyote was spotted closer on the outer edges of the park right here off vanan Drive close to where I'm standing um we did hear a tranquilizer gun that went off again around 7 P.M but we do not know if the coyote was hit so officers started to.

Move in with their flashlights and we shot some video of that but it does not appear the coyote was found because Arlington Police and Arlington Animal Services really retreated to their space up in the middle of the park so they're still searching now let's get to some video from earlier today it's been an all day search at North Arlington's.

Parkway Central Park Arlington Police Arlington Animal Services have been walking around with tranquilizer guns and multiple traps have been set up now sky for spotted a coyote multiple times today laying down in the grass and curling up on the side of a hill our ground cameras were even able to get some video of a coyote just walking.

Around the park now several coyotes have been spotted in the area in recent days but the City of Arlington believes the same coyote attacked these three children in three separate incidents just a few days apart all three children were bitten at the park or at the park either on the playground or in the parking lot the most recent attack took.

Place last night near the swings and we spoke to a woman who witnessed the attack and called 911 he bit the boy and was pulling like trying to pull him to the into the woods I think and then all of a sudden I hear another mom go oh my God that dog is biting that kid she runs and is screaming at the dog and she throws her.

Shoe at it the woman says the coyote let go the six-year-old boy and parents immediately put pressure on the puncture wounds on the chest area of the boy when officers arrived the woman says that's when she learned about Saturday's attack if I would have known that a little kid had gotten attacked on Saturday I would have.

Never brought my child to that park because it's not safe the city confirms the Fox 4 a little girl was attacked by a coyote on Saturday Animal Services then set out a trap and patrolled the park over the weekend but no luck then another attack happened on Monday the third attack again took place Tuesday at the park.

Tuesday evening so after last night's attack that's when the city decided to close the park all three children have been released from the hospital and we just learned late this evening that the city is partnering with Federal wildlife services to trap and remove the coyote that's believed to have bitten the children now we've been speaking with.

Multiple people who live in the area this park it backs up to a neighborhood it backs up to multiple apartment complexes and it also backs up to a school they tell us they have seen uh people in the area tell us they have seen multiple coyotes before but they have never seen coyotes get this close to humans now the city also tells us.

There will be extra Patrol whether it's Arlington Police or animal services tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon when school when children go to school or when they are leaving the school so the park will remain closed for now they just brought in these signs behind me that says Beware of the coyote activity we also asked Animal Services why they.

Think the coyotes are getting this close to humans and children they said it's mating season and they tend to get very aggressive but again for right now no coyotes have been trapped and the park is closed
