For the rodeo Jeff thank you so much for being here hey thank you for having me just flew in last night from Arkansas right yep yep yep had uh we were able to make it this time last two years the weather has always gotten me but it's warmer here than it is back home I believe that and you should have been here earlier in the week we were setting.
Record highs left and right but that's beside the point this Rodeo's indoors anyway at the Bismark Event Center you and I just had a little bit of a chance to talk before the segment started and you grew up in a rodeo family you're announcing it now but you were an active participant for for early part of your life yeah you know uh my dad uh my dad.
Was a saddle Bron Rider my mother was a barrel racer so it kind of came natural to me I grew up in the uh the industry and I wanted to be a bull rider but bull riders are a little shorter than I am and I realize that uh I'm not really good at bull riding and those that can't do they they talk about it there you go and you do talk about it where people.
That are going to the rodeo the next couple of nights they're going to hear Jeff a lot but there are other duties that go along with being the rode announcer I would imagine what else what else is there yeah you know you're you're I would say you're kind of the quarterback of the show um you're you're basically calling what you're seeing out.
There and I can't make the show go any faster or any slower uh but I darn sure can uh educate folks of what's happening and why it's happening and uh you know really just trying to give everybody a little bit of a 10 or 15c bio of who these people are because um for the most part you're not going to know who these people are they're 20 they're come from.
20 different states three different countries you got can Canadians coming down you got some Australians that are competing here and so just trying to give an extra reason why you should you know want to cheer for this person or get behind them and uh it it's always interesting because I have to do.
Homework during the day and that's what I was doing and a lot of homework and it's just really interesting when you find those little tidbits to to share with the audience it's no different than if I'm announcing a football game or something like that you want to be able to say well this guy's brother was you know that kind of thing so you want to.
Give a little insight into that okay now you you traveled a country like you said this isn't the first time that you were supposed to be a bismar but it's the first time I think that you say that you make it but as you go from country around the country do you see a lot of the contestants the same ones in different rodeos or is it always fresh.
New faces no you do see quite a few of the same people and and U the PRCA is set up in a circuit system and so it kind of gives guys that aren't going to go for the national finals uh maybe a regional you know maybe they got a day job maybe they got a family business maybe they got a farmer Ranch and they can't go Coast to Coast um and so you.
Have different regions of the country where these Cowboys can stay pretty relatively close and still have that and then you got some cowboys that are crisscross in the country and they're really trying to drive uh their hopes to making it to Las Vegas and and you'll see a lot of those those everywhere you go sure and you were saying that to you.
Know the group that's here to this weekend in bismar pretty good group yeah pretty tremendous this is the third year I've got to announced this event and uh you know not lip service probably one of the best set of contestants you've got You've Really Got a group here that are are top notot you've got folks are past world champions uh those that have been.
To the National Finals Rodeo just a few months ago in Las Vegas uh and so it hits repeat you know everything when it's done it doesn't stop it's time to go again and uh they're all battling it out and a lot of these contestants were down at for worth just last week they're hitting Rapid City and now they're coming up here to bismar and the.
Livestock is top notouch too yeah Moss Brooker uh you know they animals are phenomenal their horses buck and Bulls uh they also bring in you know a rodeo of this event this eyes you can't do it all yourself so they subcontract in uh some good livestock as well from uh David Bailey pro rodeo and uh the Gunderson family over there in Montana.
They bring over some greaten uh animals as well and so pretty excited when you look down there and you look at the animals and you look at the the contestants you've got some Maria matchups there that that are going to be fun to watch that sounds good now just to be clear this is a full-fledged Rodeo tell me about some of the events yeah so.
Uh if if you're not initiated now now the North Dakota the Dakota area they're pretty educated about the rodeo but if you're watching you've never been to a rodeo before uh you're going to see everything from what we have the rough stock events which is uh you know the horseback riding uh saddle Bron riding beback riding the bull riding then.
You're going to have the timed events on the men's side tie down roping team roping calf roping and then of course I think one of the loudest events that everybody goes crazy for everybody likes a good horse race it's Carles barrel racing exactly right all right well I can tell you this my grandkids are excited they're going to be there.
Tonight so good you'll probably hear them all right give me dates and times if we know it's this weekend give me the times and where we can find it yep so it's going to be at the Bismark Event Center uh this Friday and Saturday uh doors I believe are going to open at 6 the event starts at 7:30 you can get your tickets at the box office but man.
Go ahead and go online uh I talked to Wall-E and Wally mossbrucker the promoter of this event he said the ticket sales are up and I think a weather has a lot to do with that everybody wants to get out and do something um but don't stand in line and and hope you get in go ahead buy your tickets now that way you know you got a.
